Before the dinner began, Dumbledore knocked on the glass three times, and the noise in the hall gradually subsided.
“Before you enjoy your meal, I have one thing to announce,” Dumbledore stood up. “Professor Kettleburn has suffered some accident and is still recovering. Fortunately, I already have the substitute teacher.”
“Welcome, Professor Newt Scamander.”
There was warm applause in the hall, and Sean could hear Hermione whispering in surprise, “He’s the author of ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ book! He almost single-handedly established the Ministry of Magic’s Werewolf Register list. He even received the Order of Merlin medal, and he is going to teach us later?!”
Sean applauded, turned his head, and smiled, “Professor Scamander is also on a chocolate frog picture.”
“That’s not the point!” Hermione replied, “The Care of Magical Animals can’t be taken until the third grade, and I can’t even take his class!”
Sean shrugged. He couldn’t pray that Professor Kettleburn would always be in bad condition so that Newt would always take his place. In the applause, Newt stood up. He didn’t seem to be quite used to this atmosphere and just showed a shy smile.
“Thank you, thank you, everyone.” Newt greeted and sat down quickly.
Sean took a second glance. Like the legend, Newt Scamander is obsessed with protecting and researching magical animals and is not very good at socializing.
The dinner has started. Dumbledore smiled and pulled over a plate, “Try this. You have been away from Hogwarts for so many years. I wonder if the dishes are still to your liking.”
Although Newt was full of gray hair, he was still full of energy. He hunched his back and spoke very quickly, “Thank you, Professor Dumbledore. I’m just tired from the journey.”
“Oh, Newt. It’s not the journey that wears you out. It’s your suitcase.” Dumbledore said with a smile.
“I guess I don’t have the energy I had when I was young, and only some little guys are left in the suitcase.” Newt said quickly.
Dumbledore raised his eyebrows, then raised his glass, “Newt, thank you again for accepting my invitation.”
“Cheers, Professor Dumbledore.”
After dinner, Sean quickly bid farewell to Hermione and then caught up with Newt. Dumbledore, who was talking to Professor McGonagall, saw this scene and smiled slightly.
Although Newt was old, he was still energetic, and Sean trotted to catch up with him at the corner of the third floor.
“Professor Scamander.” Sean stopped him politely.
“Oh, hello there. I’m sorry, but it’s not class time yet.” Newt glanced at him, nodded, and prepared to go upstairs.
“Professor, I’m sorry to bother you. But there’s a question that has been bothering me for a long time. I’ve seen a magical beast’s egg and am very curious about what’s inside. It has a turquoise pattern, with dense bloodlines on the edges of the pattern and a bright red glow. As for the size,” Sean compared his head, “it’s about the size of my head.”
Sean was worried about what would happen if his egg was something he did not expect, so he could only hurry up and ask Newt, who had just arrived.
Newt is a wizard who likes to get along with animals far more than humans. Only by throwing his own questions quickly can he attract his attention. Otherwise, Sean suspects that he will not be interested in it and end the conversation.
Sure enough, Newt’s steps stopped all of a sudden. He turned his head, and his eyes were shining.
“Are you sure the egg looked like that?”
“I’m sure.” Sean nodded earnestly.
Newt leaned against the stone wall, knocking his hands against the wall involuntarily.
“Strange, it sounds like… But where did the bloodlines and red light come from? It sounded like a new species…”
Sean didn’t bother him. He just stood by with a smile. It took a while for Newt to come back to his senses.
He looked at his watch, “Sorry, can you come to my office with me? I have to show you something. And, oh, sorry, what’s your name?”
“Sean Wallup, sir.”
“Come on, Wallup. If you don’t mind going to bed a little bit late.”
“Of course, sir.” Sean followed Newt to an office. With sharp eyes, he saw the suitcase on the desk.
The corners of the suitcase are a little worn, and the brass lock in the middle is also worn a lot. The suitcase opened by itself, and a dull sound came from inside.
“Don’t worry.” Newt took off his jacket and put one hand on the box.
“You can find a place to sit, and I’ll find it for you.” Newt carried the suitcase and walked into a small area by the wall.
Sean sighed and turned to look at the room. It is right to say that the office is a small bedroom because there are no other facilities except tables, chairs, beds, and a wooden door behind the door, which is probably a closet.
Suddenly, Sean felt his legs being pulled. He looked down and saw a green branch pulling Sean’s legs with its little hands.
“Hey, little guy.” Sean stretched out his hand to the ground.
The Bowtruckle looked at Sean with its small brown eyes, and after a moment of hesitation, he jumped onto Sean’s palm.
“Hello, are you Professor Scamander’s friend, or did you come here by yourself?” Sean asked.
The Bowtruckle didn’t seem to be afraid of life at all. It hugged Sean’s fingers with both hands and swung a swing on it.
“It likes you very much.” Newt came out with a thick picture book with a smile on his face.
“I think I’ve always been a fan of magical animals, sir.” Sean smiled and folded his hands together so that the Bowtruckle had more room to move.
“Bowtruckles are hard to be befriended with wizards, especially when they meet new people.” Newt was slightly surprised and then handed over the picture book.
“Is this it?”
Sean looked at the page that was opened and immediately saw the content of it. The picture above is what his egg looked like before. At the bottom of the picture is a line of small characters: Winged Demon.
