Just as Skyler was immersed in contemplation about the implications of the third magical awakening on his own strength, the scene suddenly shifted, and Skyler was startled to realize that everything in the surrounding world appeared to have faded.
There was no trace of light; even the presence of shadow was nowhere to be found. The silence in this space is deafening enough to drive one to insanity.
One moment, Skyler was clearly in the secret room of Serpentis Vigil Club, and the next, he found himself in an entirely unfamiliar place. This place resembled a realm of silence, entirely cut off from the outside world and enveloped in complete darkness.
Within the darkness, there were faint murmurs that seemed to emanate from distant realms in time and space. This language was clearly not any known language, and couldn’t even be described in words.
For some reason, Skyler could feel his soul stirring uneasily, as if… he had encountered a natural enemy.
He endeavored to calm his heart and soul with sheer willpower, attempting to employ Occlumency to resist the intrusion of nonsensical sounds like “Sanskrit” and “mantras.”
After a while, a majestic voice resonated in his mind. It was neither English nor any language Skyler knew.
Skyler was proficient in at least ten languages, and even with more distant languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai, though not entirely comprehensible, he could still vaguely recognize them.
He was certain that this was unquestionably not the language of this world – but he was able to grasp the meaning of the voice as if he had some kind of telepathic link with the speaker.
The voice inquired about who he was and why he was in this place…
Skyler was perplexed. He himself didn’t know how he ended up here.
“Dear Your Excellency,” Skyler employed the most noble honorific when addressing this person of unknown origin.
After contemplating, he realized that if he wanted to return to his original location, he would likely need the assistance of the speaker, so he decided to state the facts: “I don’t know why I arrived in this place, and it was not my intention to be transported here.”
“I come from a place called Earth, and my people there are known as wizards. Before I arrived here, my body was undergoing a magical awakening -“
Observing the lack of response from the other party, Skyler continued, “The magical awakening is a process that awakens the power in my blood. I’ve experienced two magical awakenings before, but nothing like this has ever happened. This is my third time awakening to new power, one that feels different…”
The voice fell into silence, prompting Skyler to stop talking and patiently await the other party’s response. He had already conveyed the necessary information, and if the other party harbored ill intentions, further words would likely be futile.
The voice finally spoke, “Have you ever breached the dimensional wall?”
Skyler nodded, anxious to ensure his reaction was perceived, and added swiftly, “Yes, in my original place, this ability is referred to as space magic. I’ve made some progress in it, touching the power beyond the space I inhabit. I presume it’s the dimensional wall you mentioned.”
“Although the power in your body is quite weak, it’s of a high level… Well,” the voice paused for about five seconds before continuing, “Based on my assessment, you marginally fulfill the conditions…”
What conditions? Skyler grew increasingly puzzled as he listened, but he eventually grasped one thing – with his current strength, he might not be the strongest in his world, but certainly, no one would dare claim he was “very weak.” It seemed he had stumbled upon a significant secret.
“Since you’re here, it means you qualify to access the biggest secret in the world…”
“Let me clarify my identity first. In your world, or most of it, I’m usually referred to as -“
“Destiny.”
“My duty is to safeguard the functioning of different worlds, ensuring they operate normally without interference under the isolation of the dimensional wall.”
“There are only a few exceptional cases, perhaps one in a hundred thousand Halley years – oh, in your terms, it should be called light years. Among a million light years, only one unique case emerges, breaking through the constraints of space and coming into contact with the power beyond the dimensional wall…”
“Clearly, you are one of them.”
“I am no longer in control of your case. To put it in terms you can grasp, you have broken free from the constraints of fate -” The voice explained to Skyler the meaning of their fated meeting.
Skyler’s face paled upon hearing the voice echoes. The meaning behind this statement was not lost on him.
“Haha, don’t fret,” the voice reassured, seemingly understanding Skyler’s internal turmoil. “Your power is still quite modest, but it holds great significance for us. Individuals like you contribute bit by bit to the power of the dimensional wall.”
“So far, even though you’ve glimpsed our secrets, you aren’t yet qualified to actively participate. Therefore -” the voice paused before continuing, “Return! I will inform the God of Death’s emissary that when you journey to the netherworld, I will bring you here instead of allowing you to enter the realm of the dead directly.”
“Oh, and since you’ve come all this way, I can’t let you leave empty-handed.” The voice’s tone lightened, “As a token of appreciation for your visit, I shall bestow upon you this power!”
The scene shifted.
Skyler reappeared in the secret room of the Serpentis Vigil Club.
Upon opening his eyes, Daphne’s concerned expression was the first thing that met his gaze.
“Skyler, what’s happened? Why do you look so disturbed? You’re unconscious for quite a short time, but your body went completely silent without any motions; the other people thought you passed away…”
Collecting himself, Skyler replied, “No, I’m fine.” He scanned the room, adding, “I triggered the third magical awakening, and that’s how I unintentionally ended up here. What just transpired in this room?”
The young wizards in the secret chamber collectively gasped. Their faces mirrored astonishment as if they had just witnessed something extraordinary.
The third magical awakening!
In the wizarding world, the common belief is that every wizard experiences only one magical awakening in their lifetime, marking the awakening of magical power during childhood.
However, there are wizard scholars who argue that an exceptional few might trigger a second magical awakening. When this theory circulated, many wizards quietly speculated that it might explain why figures like Grindelwald, Voldemort, and Dumbledore became such formidable wizards.
Indeed, for those truly knowledgeable about the wizarding world, two of the three powerful figures—excluding Grindelwald—are of mixed-blood heritage. Thus, the prowess of these individuals cannot be attributed to the bloodline factors often fixated upon by those who uphold the notion of pure-blood supremacy.
While the second magical awakening is indeed a rare occurrence, it is not entirely implausible.
However, what about the third magical awakening?
Even those closest to Skyler, like Daphne, accustomed to his diverse magical abilities, found themselves in a state of disbelief. Could there really be a third magical awakening?
“By the way, how long was I lost in thought?” Skyler asked with a serious look on his face.
“Not long at all, not even five minutes. When you suddenly closed your eyes without warning and remained still, everyone could only speculate that something happened. However, with the assistance of me and a few prefects, the members maintained their trust in you. The atmosphere remained remarkably calm as everyone patiently awaited your recovery to share the details of what transpired.”
Feeling a surge in his heart, Skyler retrieved his wand, pointed it at the sky, and uttered, “Lumos.”
A remarkably gentle light blossomed at the wand’s tip.
Under its rays, an unparalleled warmth enveloped all the young wizards. It traversed through their bodies, offering a sense of protection and affection—an intoxicating sensation. So profound was this emotion that some found themselves shedding tears of gratitude.
As the light continued to brighten, akin to the gradual ascent of the sun in the darkness, it bestowed the first rays of dawn.
Courage swelled in the hearts of the young wizards, rendering them unafraid of anything the world might hold. All darkness and unease seemed banished to invisible corners.
The radiance intensified further, piercing the once dark secret room with a pillar of golden light. The entire space was bathed in brilliance, resembling a golden sun rising within.
In an instant, the hearts of the young wizards brimmed with boundless determination and unwavering resolve.
With heads held high, they unleashed a collective roar to the sky, ready to confront a forty-foot fire dragon without hesitation.
“Nox,” Skyler uttered the wand-extinguishing spell, promptly dimming the light.
Yet, the goal of instilling courage had been achieved. At this moment, the young wizards’ confidence in Skyler had undergone a transformation, their eyes now brimming with fervor and admiration.
“Well,” Luna’s dreamlike voice chimed in at the opportune moment, “Was that the Wand-lighting Charm you just cast? It made everyone feel so safe and warm!” “Exactly!
“Did you like the Wand-lighting Charm?” Skyler inquired, a newfound ability to link magic spells with the mind having surfaced after his recent illusion. “I stumbled upon it by chance. I’ll need more time to delve into the specifics before I can teach you.”
Yet, Skyler pondered silently that all his prior magical knowledge must undergo experimentation to uncover potential new effects.
