In the outskirts of London, at the entrance of Malfoy Manor, Narcissa Malfoy, the mistress of the Malfoy family, was pacing back and forth in her courtyard, anxiously awaiting something. Suddenly, the sound of the Apparition echoed, and Lucius appeared with his son Draco by his side.
Observing her husband and son’s arrival, Narcissa hurriedly approached. Lucius, anticipating a warm embrace, extended his arms towards his wife. “I have arrived from Diagon Alley, me dear.”
However, Narcissa bypassed him and enveloped Draco in a tight hug, expressing her relief.
Lucius was slightly taken aback after seeing how Narcissa didn’t even bother to reciprocate his gesture by welcoming him warmly like she had welcomed Draco.
Instead of scolding her, Lucius took a deep breath and let out an audible sigh while closing his eyes.
“Merlin, Draco, I’m so glad to see you unharmed! I’ve been fretting since I heard about Diagon Alley and Gringotts. Are you all right, my dear?” she inquired anxiously.
Upon hearing his mother’s question, Draco shook his head and replied with excitement, “Mother, it’s such a pity you didn’t come to Diagon Alley with us today! Merlin, you can’t imagine the scene. For the first time, I realized how thrilling the battles between wizards can be!”
In response to her son’s words, Narcissa affectionately stroked Draco’s forehead, then turned to glare at Lucius and scolded, “What have you done, dear?! Do you not care about Draco’s safety in the slightest?! If he gets injured by a curse, I won’t spare you!”
Feeling a bit sheepish, Lucius quickly changed the subject, saying, “I’ve discreetly placed that person’s belongings in Weasley’s house, as you requested. Now, if the Ministry of Magic conducts a surprise inspection, Arthur Weasley will be the first to be implicated. Handle it as you see fit.”
Narcissa nodded in understanding and then called out loudly, “Dobby! Dobby!”
Upon Narcissa’s call, a house elf emerged from somewhere in Malfoy Manor. Bowing solemnly to the Malfoy family, the elf inquired, “Mistress, what are your orders?”
While gently stroking Draco’s hair, Narcissa instructed Dobby, “Go, take the young master for a bath, and then serve his dinner!”
Responding to Narcissa’s command, Dobby first bowed and then took Draco’s hand. They apparated away, disappearing into the courtyard of Malfoy Manor.
With Draco and Dobby gone, Narcissa and Lucius walked into the manor together. Narcissa remarked, “Since that person’s belongings have been disposed of, we should make an effort to distance ourselves from some of our former associates.”
Hearing her words, Lucius nodded and added, “Not only that, but we can also create opportunities for Draco to connect with his future associates in advance. You must understand that, regardless of the faction, there are internal divisions within each group.”
Hearing Lucius’ revelation, Narcissa paused momentarily, then looked at him with surprise and asked, “What do you mean? What did you see today?”
Lucius took a deep breath and recounted, “Today in Diagon Alley, outside the entrance of Gringotts, I unexpectedly encountered a member of the Greengrass family among the wizards affiliated with the Alliance.”
Narcissa exclaimed in disbelief, “A Greengrass family wizard in the Alliance? I didn’t anticipate this. You know, although the Greengrass family, like us, is a member of the Sacred Twenty-Eight and holds a noble status within it, they have always maintained a low profile!”
Lucius, too, furrowed his brow in contemplation. He nodded and added, “Indeed, had it not been for the passing of old Greengrass, prompting my visit to offer condolences on behalf of the Malfoy family, where I saw the child, and then encountering him again today at Gringotts, I would never have suspected that the traditionally discreet Greengrass family had secretly aligned itself with the Alliance at some point.”
“Not only that, the silent child from the funeral has ascended to the position of the new-generation patriarch of the Greengrass family following the demise of the elder Greengrass. Furthermore, from my observations today, it appears that this individual wields considerable influence within the Alliance.”
Listening to her husband’s revelations, Narcissa responded thoughtfully, “It seems that the Greengrass family has solidified its position within the Alliance due to their early alignment, and we must expedite Draco’s progress.”
Curious, she inquired, “What is the name of the Greengrass family’s child?”
Recalling, Lucius replied, “His name is Auston Greengrass, the eldest child of the Greengrass family’s new generation. I recall he has two younger sisters, with the youngest likely being around Malfoy’s age.”
At that moment, Narcissa and Lucius exchanged meaningful glances, a silent understanding passing between them.
At that moment, the couple had strolled from the gates of Malfoy Manor to the castle’s entrance. Lucius gallantly pushed open the wooden door, gesturing for his wife, Narcissa, to enter first.
To Lucius’s astonishment, Narcissa didn’t stride into her castle with the customary regality he was accustomed to witnessing. Instead, she came to an abrupt halt.
Observing this, Lucius raised an eyebrow in surprise, his gaze fixating on his wife. Narcissa wore a peculiar expression on her face – a blend of astonishment and trepidation, tinged with an unspoken anticipation and joy.
Noticing his wife’s reaction, Lucius furrowed his brow and followed her line of sight. To his amazement, he discovered someone occupying the central seat in the castle’s hall. Seated there was Wentworth Grindelwald, with whom he had crossed paths on several occasions.
Standing beside Wentworth were several young individuals, accompanied by two wizards with gray hair, still maintaining their vitality. They stood a short distance behind Wentworth.
In an unexpected turn of events, the house-elves, who were supposed to be bustling about the restaurant preparing for the upcoming dinner party, stood frozen in place. It was evident that they had fallen under a spell, their movements arrested in an instant.
Witnessing this surreal scene, Lucius experienced a momentary bewilderment. However, he swiftly composed himself. With a charming smile, he took hold of his wife Narcissa’s hand and strolled toward Wentworth, extending a gracious welcome.
“Malfoy family extends its warm greetings to the heir of the Grindelwald family. Your presence has added a touch of enchantment to our entire manor,” Lucius declared with a congenial tone, acknowledging the unexpected guests.
