Green and Cedric, positioned on the left and right, simultaneously cast their spells targeting Quirrell.
“Afflicto!”
“Stupefy!”
Confronted with this sudden assault, Quirrell swiftly raised his wand. The water snake, initially entangled with Wentworth’s fiery serpent, shot into the sky, carrying the fire snake along with it.
The two spells released by Green and Cedric were rendered ineffective as Quirrell freed his hands, deflecting the attacks effortlessly.
Quirrell widened his eyes, gazing at Cedric in disbelief. He remarked, “This isn’t the spell I taught you, and it’s certainly beyond the capability of a mere Hogwarts student!”
Cedric, feeling a surge of determination after initially being frustrated when he raised his hand to counter the trio’s attack, straightened his back upon hearing Quirrell’s questioning. He retorted, “Surprised, Professor Quirrell? I’ll humor you with the ‘Professor’ one last time. Your teaching skills are as abysmal as your morality!”
“Afflicto!” Another spell surged forth toward Quirrell.
Meanwhile, Green, on the other side, strategically released disruptive spells to create openings for Cedric’s attacks.
“Well now, Cedric. Quirell is still our professor no matter what. So be sure to give it your all when sending him to the afterlife!” Green remarked as he cast another spell.
“You insolent brats! Let me show you the consequences of interrupting my Lord’s plan!” Quirell replied furiously.
With the seamless coordination of Green and Cedric, Quirrell, who had boasted earlier due to his formidable skills, found himself momentarily overwhelmed.
Meanwhile, Wentworth led Harry and Hermione towards the location where Cassandra was held captive. “Both of you, stay with her!”
Amidst the swirling curses in the air, Harry and Hermione, witnessing such a battle for the first time, couldn’t help but be awestruck. Hermione voiced her thoughts, “Is this what battles between top wizards look like?”
Without looking back, Wentworth responded, “You’ve misunderstood, Hermione. This, at best, is a skirmish between two adept students and a mediocre professor.”
“Voldemort has not fully recovered; that’s why he relies on possessing Quirrell’s body. If Voldemort were at the peak of his power, even if only halfway recovered, we would be in grave danger right now.”
Hearing Wentworth’s explanation, Harry couldn’t help but swallow nervously. Meanwhile, through swift maneuvers, Green had managed to encircle Quirrell from behind. Green and Cedric, working in tandem, launched simultaneous attacks on Quirrell.
“It’s over right now for you, Quirell! Be a good professor and drop your wand right now!” Green exclaimed.
Hearing his jokes in the middle of their clash would never fail to bring a smile to Cedric’s face, “Senior, perhaps we need to take this more seriously. He is still our professor after all.”
Despite Quirrell’s initial advantage in strength, the combined efforts of Green and Cedric had leveled the playing field.
While witnessing their students’ success would typically be a source of pride for teachers, Quirrell found himself far from pleased at this moment, especially with the relentless tease from them both.
A growing sense of panic overwhelmed Quirrell, particularly as Cedric and Green displayed strengths that surpassed his own.
The Defense Against the Dark Arts professor felt an unsettling fear, starkly contrasting the usual dynamics of a teacher-student relationship.
In the midst of this turmoil, Voldemort’s voice echoed loudly in Quirrell’s mind, scolding him for his perceived failure. The Dark Lord criticized, “Fool! Focus on Wentworth! If he manages to rescue the girl from our captives, then this entire plan will crumble. Do you know how rare this kind of opportunity will come across once again?!”
Voldemort couldn’t help but express his frustration, adding, “How could mere two Hogwarts students defeat a Hogwarts Defense Against the Dark Arts professor? Are you even reading the subject correctly before you taught them?”
Knowing that Voldemort was unlikely to entertain explanations, Quirrell knew that he had more pressing matters to attend to – specifically, stopping Wentworth.
Quirrell swiftly countered Green and Cedric’s spells, showcasing his proficiency in dueling. Recognizing the need for extra protection, he cast a rapid protective charm on himself, creating a magical shield.
However, Quirrell’s quick thinking faced challenges during execution.
Green relentlessly continued his barrage of attacks, attempting to impede Quirrell’s progress. “Can’t afford to have you hide now behind those!”
Simultaneously, Cedric altered his strategy, opting for a disarming charm. With a deep breath, he aimed at the direction Quirrell was advancing and chanted, “Stupefy!”
While the Disarm Charm itself was a standard spell, Cedric’s execution was far from ordinary.
As Lupin had previously observed, Cedric possessed a magical reserve well beyond his peers, infusing this spell with several times the usual magical power.
This heightened intensity added an unexpected dimension to the duel unfolding in the Forbidden Forest.
Despite the relatively low mana consumption of the disarming spell, Cedric had to exert more magical power than usual forcefully. The seemingly ordinary spell, upon hitting Quirrell, caused ripples in the protective charm surrounding him.
Once again caught off guard by the unexpected turn of events, Quirrell found himself in a dilemma.
The series of surprises Green and Cedric delivered throughout the day left Quirrell unsettled.
Realizing that he needed to address Cedric’s impending attack, Quirrell halted and prepared to confront the disarming spell head-on.
Fully aware that his protective charm couldn’t withstand Cedric’s intensified magical assault, Quirrell contemplated the dire consequences.
Should Cedric successfully disarm him, the demonstrated prowess of Cedric and Green today made Quirrell doubt his ability to escape the Forbidden Forest unscathed.
Meanwhile, Voldemort, inhabiting Quirrell’s body, remained indifferent to Quirrell’s fate.
Recognizing the near-impossible odds of Wentworth surrendering, both Voldemort and Quirrell had underestimated the formidable force of the youngster from Alliance.
However, Voldemort couldn’t afford to let this opportunity slip away.
Returning home empty-handed tonight might mean more than failure – it could further thwart his plan and make him lose an entire army.
Voldemort shows signs of being frustrated and finally snaps at Quirrell, “You fool! It’s just a disarming charm! Focus on Wentworth; Harry is with him! If we can’t prevent Wentworth from rescuing Cassandra, we’ll at least capture Harry Potter, or better yet, kill him!”
Voldemort’s words resonated with Quirrell, who found himself in a predicament.
Quirrell felt paralyzed when he was caught between Voldemort’s demand to prioritize Harry and the relentless curses flying towards him from Green and Cedric.
Acting on Voldemort’s instructions might allow him to reach Wentworth’s side or even target Harry, but facing the combined onslaught from Green and Cedric was a certain defeat.
Moreover, Wentworth, who had yet to join the battle, remained a formidable force.
Simultaneously, Wentworth led Harry and Hermione toward Cassandra, who was not far away.
However, a wall of fire, conjured by Quirrell, obstructed their path.
With determination, Wentworth raised his wand, “Finite Incantatem!”
However, the firewall remained unyielding… still blazing the air around them while blocking their path.
