After exchanging greetings with all three of them, Ollivander delved into his wand shop, and the outcome mirrored the original storyline—Harry found the wand that suited him, and with Voldemort’s wand, they unintentionally formed an unusual pair of “Wand Brothers.”
As Harry marveled at the wand in his hand, unable to part with it, the doorbell at Ollivander’s wand shop jingled once more. All heads turned to witness the entrance of a middle-aged man adorned in noble attire but with a pallid complexion.
Upon seeing the newcomer, Draco eagerly announced, “Father, over here!” While waving his hand with a wide smile on his face.
The man was none other than Draco’s father, Lucius Malfoy.
Draco’s eyes lit up with excitement as he greeted his father.
Lucius cast a glance at his son before shifting his attention to Wentworth. He instantly recognized the young man before him as the one Dumbledore had taken to watch the Quidditch World Cup last year—an impressive Hogwarts student.
“Hello, Wentworth. It’s been a year, and you’ve grown considerably,” Lucius Malfoy remarked with a smile, extending his courtesy despite harboring dissatisfaction with many of Dumbledore’s actions.
While he harbored reservations, Lucius, with his cunning and diplomatic nature, chose to express kindness toward this young man, evidently Dumbledore’s proud protégé.
The reason for it is simply because Lucius doesn’t want to add any problem to his current normal life that’s going leisurely. If he decided to pursue further and dug more into Wentworth’s background, then he would be surprise at what’s waiting for him.
At this moment, Draco took Harry by the hand and walked over to his father’s side, bubbling with excitement. “Father, allow me to introduce you. This is my new friend, Harry Potter! The one and only!” Draco introduced while pulling Harry’s hand to get the handshake of approval from his father.
Upon hearing his son’s introduction, Lucius’s countenance betrayed a trace of surprise. He addressed Draco Malfoy with approval, “Well done, Draco. You’ve certainly chosen a worthy friend! Harry, regarding you…”
However, just as Lucius Malfoy was about to say something to Harry Potter, Hagrid’s voice echoed from outside the door, “Harry, come and have a look at what I’ve got for you!”
Harry’s attention was instantly diverted to the cage that Hagrid was holding, housing a regal snow-white owl.
It appeared that Hagrid possessed an exceptional talent when it came to selecting animals, a trait not lost even on the well-informed Draco. The snowy owl captured the interest of both Harry and Draco as they hurriedly joined Hagrid to inspect the avian guest.
Meanwhile, as Wentworth and Lucius nodded in acknowledgment and turned to leave, Lucius abruptly halted, “Wait a moment, Wentworth!”
Perplexed, Wentworth turned back and regarded Lucius standing behind him. “What is it, Mr. Malfoy?”
Lucius walked over slowly, fixing his gaze on Wentworth as he began to speak, “I recall, Wentworth, you once claimed to be from a pure-blood family. However, over the past year, I’ve inquired among all the pure-blood families in Europe, and there appears to be no peer named Wentworth. I’m curious, are you a pure-blood wizard from a foreign country?”
Hearing Lucius’s inquiry, Wentworth felt a twinge of irritation but responded with a composed expression, “Mr. Malfoy, you seem remarkably interested in me, don’t you?”
Wentworth’s irritation with Lucius Malfoy is rooted down from the knowledge of knowing that he solely prefers to be acquainted with pure-blooded wizards in general; this leads Wentworth, who hated such ideologies, to harbor a deep hatred for him deep down.
Without waiting for Lucius to interject, Wentworth pressed on, “But are you certain that you’ve exhausted all your inquiries into European pure-blood families? Consider, for instance, the Grindelwald family!”
At the mention of the Grindelwald family, Lucius’ face immediately stiffened, and a shade drained from his already pale countenance.
Observing this reaction, the corners of Wentworth’s mouth twitched slightly, relishing the prank-like atmosphere, as he uttered each word deliberately, “Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Wentworth Grindelwald.”
With that declaration, Wentworth extended his right hand toward Lucius. Observing Lucius Malfoy’s swift response, he relinquished his cane and grasped Wentworth’s right hand with both hands in a gesture of reverence.
“Lucius Malfoy, it’s an honor to meet the leader of the Alliance! Since you’re here, the British Ministry of Magic last year…” Before Lucius could complete his sentence, Wentworth retracted his right hand and interjected.
“That’s correct. It’s the work of the Alliance. We believe in accountability. If someone errs, they must face consequences. Does Mr. Malfoy hold a different viewpoint?” Wentworth asked with a stern expression.
Lucius vigorously shook his head, expressing, “Of course not! I concur with your stance! I’ve long harbored the belief that certain individuals at the British Ministry of Magic are undeserving of their positions!”
Just as Draco entered, he witnessed Wentworth and his father engrossed in conversation, “Father, what are you and Wentworth talking about?” He asked curiously as he approached them.
Lucius attempted to assume a stern expression and admonish Draco, but Wentworth intervened before he could do so, “Your father has entrusted me with overseeing your time at Hogwarts, Draco. You’d do well to heed my guidance.”
Hearing Wentworth’s words caught Lucius off guard and made his head blank for a second, before he smiled and concurred, “That’s right, precisely! I’ve asked Wentworth’s help to look after you while you study there in Hogwarts.”
Observing this, Draco pouted with dissatisfaction and began expressing himself, “But, I…”
Before Draco could voice his thoughts, he noticed Lucius lowering his face and staring at him as he widened his eyes, “What? Do you have an objection to what I just said?”
Upon seeing his father’s face, Draco stopped his words before he finally forced a smile, “No, not at all, Father!” Draco replied, “I’ve known you before Hogwarts, now I would be really delighted to be your junior. I am looking forward to your guidance, Wentworth!” He finished as he turned his head to Wentworth.
Hearing Draco’s reply, Lucius nodded with contentment. “Good.”
Harry’s voice echoed from outside at that moment, “I’m going to buy textbooks. Are you coming?”
Upon hearing Harry’s reminder, Draco seemed to recall something and swiftly addressed Lucius, “Father, it’s Harry’s birthday. Hagrid mentioned that Wentworth had prepared a birthday cake for Harry at home, and I’d like to join. What do you think?”
In response to Draco’s inquiry, Lucius turned his gaze towards Wentworth for the first time, only to find Wentworth had already exited the door.
After pondering for a moment, Lucius nodded solemnly and remarked, “Of course. Remember to purchase some birthday gifts as a matter of courtesy. Don’t bring disgrace to the Malfoy family!”
“Additionally, tomorrow you will accompany Wentworth and Harry to the station. Your mother and I will be there, ensuring you have everything you need for school.”
With those instructions, Lucius extracted a stack of golden Galleons from his robes and handed them to Draco, watching as Wentworth and the others departed from Ollivander’s wand shop.
